Video Poker

Video Poker is a fast-paced version of the original poker game and the odds of winning are slightly higher. The winning hands are similar to poker but the game only lasts for two hands and there are no bluffing skills needed for this particular version of the game.

The game begins with cards being dealt. Once you have your hand in front of you, you can decide which cards you want to keep and which cards you want to discard. You will be able to hold the cards you wish to keep by pressing the hold button on the cards.

Once you have chosen your cards you will then have to deal again and the dealer will replace the cards that you have discarded with new ones. The outcome of this deal is very important because it will dictate the kind of hand you have.

One of the biggest advantages of this game is the fact that you are not playing against other players. The hand that you are dealt will dictate your winnings and these are usually displayed on the side of the machine so that you can refer to it whenever you are picking the cards that you want to hold or discard.

Placing Bets

When you are betting on this game you have the chance to decide how much you want to bet on each hand. The bets range from low amounts (.25c) to high amounts ($5). As you play you can alter the amounts of each bet and stand a chance to win more or less depending on how much you bet.

The Betting Structure Of Video Poker

The winning hands are the same as those played in your normal poker games. If you have played poker before then you will be able to judge whether your hand is good or not. The better your hand is, the more money you will win.

  • No Pairs: this occurs when the player does not have any matching cards.
  • Two Pairs: this occurs when the player has two cards of the same value in the hand.
  • Three of a Kind: this occurs when the player has three cards of the same value in the hand.
  • Straight: this occurs when the player has five cards whose numbers rise consecutively, e.g (2,3,4,5,6).
  • Flush: this occurs when the cards are all of the same suit. It does not matter whether the numbers rise consecutively or not.
  • Full House: this occurs when the player holds three cards representing the same value and a pair of cards with the same value.
  • Straight Flush: this occurs when the cards are all of the same suit and they rise in consecutive numbers.
  • Royal Flush: this occurs when the player obtains a hand consisting of an ace, jack, queen and king and they are all of the same suit.
