Sic Bo originated from ancient China and it is still very popular in Macau and casinos in the west, such as Atlantic City. The game is now available in online casinos and the rules are very simple to learn.
The Basic Rules of Sic Bo
Sic Bo is a game played with 3 dice. The dice are usually kept in a cup or basket and, once shaken, a set of numbers are revealed. The numbers displayed will then decide the winners of the game.
In modern casinos the dice is placed in a sealed container and the entire process is automated. Once the winning numbers have been rolled they will be displayed on the table layout.
Placing Bets
Before the dice are shaken players will bet on which numbers they think will appear on the dice. Certain pairs or combinations represent different ratios and these will affect the amount the player wins. The more difficult combinations or pairs will win the player more money than the others.
Betting Structures
Casinos differ when it comes to their payouts and the odds that they offer their players but the following is a breakdown of the average payouts and the bets:
- Two of a kind: The player is betting on the fact that two of the same numbers will appear on the dice. The payout on this bet is 8:1.
- Three of a kind: The player is betting on the fact that two of the same number will appear on the dice. The player can choose a specific number to appear on all of the dice or simply the fact that any number will appear on all three. The payout on any number appearing on the dice is 24:1 and the payout on a specific number appearing on the dice is 150:1.
- Betting on a combination: The player is betting on two specific numbers appearing on two of the dice. The payout on this kind of bet is 5:1
- Betting on one number: The player is betting that a certain number will appear on any of the dice.
Betting on the total amount shown on the dice: The player bets on the total number than will be displayed on all of the dice. The winnings are decided by the numbers that the player has chosen and the amount of numbers that have appeared after the roll.
